Krista Scruggs, ZAFA WINES + CO-CELLARS, asked me to create a label for her new release “BDE”. The flavor of this canned sparkling co-ferment was VERY LOUD and she wanted a label that matched. More than just a pretty picture, Krista asked me to create a label that reflected her experiences in the wine world.

I took a multimedia approach, combining modern graphic design with vintage photography. I X-Acto’d the women’s photos out of some old Playboy Magazines from the 1960s and found the fruits in a National Geographic of the same era. The women on the label are literally standing on the starchy (male) wine world as a female hand controls the narrative from behind the scenes.
